“Raue Liebe” (Tough Love)

The wine “Raue Liebe” is a tale of love and suffering, a story that happened a long time ago at the Lang wine estate in Burgenland. The result is a one-of-a-kind cuvée from the oldest and most noble grape varieties – captivating, timeless and powerful. 

“Raue Liebe” matures for three and a half years in small French oak barrels before another year in a barrique barrel buried in the ground.

Vertical refers to wines from the same site but different years. We offer our wine-loving guests - and those who want to be - an exceptional range of vertical wines. This allows the comparison of individual vintages with regard to the wine’s development, flavor and potential. Exceptional wines often show their fullness only after a few years in the bottle. 

And time is of the essence: we are aging some of Austria’s best and most precious wines with the time they need to fully unfold.

Bollinger is one of the few houses still family owned and operated.  At each harvest, Bollinger holds back some of their Grand Crus and Premier Crus. These reserve wines are filled into magnum bottles, corked and then allowed to rest under light pressure for 5 - 15 years. With 60,000 to 70,000 magnums stored every year, House Bollinger has amassed a wine library of more than 300,000 magnums. Bollinger's wine reserve system is unique in the champagne industry, following their own conviction that defines this Special Cuvée.
