What Gault&Millau recognises

Gault&Millau describes St. Peter Stiftskulinarium as a house that is reinventing itself. The jury highlights how hosts Veronika Kirchmair and Claus Haslauer have brought contemporary art, music and colour into the eleven historic rooms. It praises the signature of Armin Leitgeb, who cooked at Tantris in Munich and The French Laundry in California and led Les Amis in Singapore. The jury also points to the wine list of more than 900 wines and the live music under the Willibald arcades. With the title, Gault&Millau honours a house more than a thousand years old that had the courage to change.

Our Wine List: More Than 900 Selections

St. Peter Stiftskulinarium’s wine list features more than 900 selections, personally curated by host Claus Haslauer. Renowned classics sit alongside exciting discoveries, with established wine regions represented alongside lesser-known producers and appellations. Sommelier Rakhshan Zhouleh guides guests through the selection, bringing his expertise to the interplay between food and wine.

“For us, wine is more than an accompaniment to a menu. It offers new perspectives on the stories behind each dish, adds its own character and turns every pairing into a discovery.”

Founded in 803, St. Peter Stiftskulinarium brings together centuries of history with contemporary cuisine, art and music. Eleven individually designed rooms, each with its own character, make the house a place to experience far beyond a traditional restaurant visit.

“Our history is the foundation on which we continue to develop St. Peter as hosts. For something to endure across generations, it must remain connected to the present and help shape the future.”
